“By the time it came to the edge of the Forest, the stream had grown up so that it was almost a river, and being grown-up, it did not run and jump and sparkle along as it used to do when it was younger, but moved more slowly. For it knew now where it was going, and it said to itself, “There is no hurry. We shall get there someday.”
- A. A. Milne

Day 52 Wednesday, Oct 19, 2016. Yesterday, Fern Hopkins came down in her golf cart and gave us a lecture on what to find on the river on our way to Green Turtle Bay Resort on the Kentucky Lakes.
Here is a segment of her talk as she explains what to do in a restaurant if you want a mixed drink in a dry county which Green Turtle Bay Resort is in.
Just got word today that my Major League Baseball home team the 2016 Cleveland Indians are going to the World Series to take on the Chicago Cubs!!!!! How exciting!
I'm still at Hoppies Marina waiting out this rain. Fortunately, we didn't get the heavy rain and wind hitting places around us. It's raining now and I am sitting under the bimini and white tarp I set up earlier today. Spent the last hour and a half over on Dave and Beth Rogers' 35-foot Alberg sailboat going over our plans for the next 4 days. The first 2 nights should be easygoing. First, a Lock wall at Kaskaskia River. Then anchorage at Little Diversion Canal. The next 2 days will be in question. At that point, we will be going upriver and the current on the Ohio River is stronger with this high water level. Not sure if we are doing the Tennessee River or the Cumberland River which would be an additional 27 miles. The jury is still out.
Ladies of the Great Loop 2016.
Rhonda Joiner (S/V Mucho Gusto), Beth Rogers (S/V Mystic), Fern Hopkins (Hoppies Marina), and Jean Mescher (M/V Bob Tale)
Boat cards are business cards loopers share as we run into each other at various marinas and anchorages. On the cards, I write the date and place we met. Paul and Jean are from Verona, WI. They left early this morning from Hoppies. No one knows if we will ever meet again.
Scott and Rhonda Joiner aboard the catamaran Mucho Gusto are from Ft. Lauderdale, FL., and are completing their Loop.
Spending the rest of this evening getting ready for tomorrow. So to all Fair winds and gentle winds... Go, Tribe!
Comments from 2016:
Pogo Bob Our next two nights were the same as yours (Good plan. Both were good stops). On our third night, we anchored on the Ohio River near Paducah. We ended up going on the Cumberland River as maintenance delays at the Kentucky Lock were the prevailing rumor. If you're going to Green Turtle, the Cumberland isn't that much farther.
