Day 76 Saturday, Nov 12, 2016. Demopolis, Alabama. Kingfisher Bay Marina. Rest day. Got laundry done. Shopped at Walmart. Cleaned the boat. Charged all electronics. Ready for 2 nights' anchorage on the Tombigbee River. Saw my first palm tree. Well kinda. Visited Terry, Anna Marie's husband who is building a model square-rigged vessel that will be RC controlled. Talked with Jim a sailor who will head down to the Gulf later this month. Until later Fair winds and gentle seas...
Comments from 2016:
Pogo Bob That's a nice marina. We had Christmas dinner there on our Great Loop, with other transients and local liveaboards. We were in the old section, over by the fuel dock. When we came through again five years later, they had the new section built. Beautiful!
Henry Krzemien RN Anna Marie and her husband Terry manage the new marina for a few years. It's not even on Google maps. Coming back from Walmart had to Google Demopolis Yacht Basin. Missed the turn-off on Rt 43 highway cause it's a single-lane dirt road leading to Kingfisher Bay Marina. The late-model Buick Century had a layer of thick dust on it. Had to stop at the gas station to clean the Windows to see. Missing knobs to the radio and a.c. and the column shifter indicator lights burned out on the dash. Had to guess what gear I was in. Even going into town was an adventure. Ran well and had good breaks and shocks. Terry was the guy building that RC square rigger. Doesn't plan on motorizing it, going to run on wind and servos.
Lori Norris, What is the temperature?
Henry Krzemien RN The air temp is 68 now, quite comfortable, water temp of the river bounced between 70 and 68. The sky's hazy so the sun is not cooking me alive.
Lori Norris Henry Krzemien Well, that's a good day for you then. Cleveland is sunny and in the '50s. A pleasant November day. I see now why you scheduled your adventure when you did. I look forward to reading your posts every day. Fairweather and gentle seas.
David Myers The Next 10 days down here temperature-wise high 74* Low 54* sunny all ten days.
