Special Report: GOBA 2022 Day 7, Rest Day 2
Friday June 24, 2022. Great Ohio Bicycle Adventure.
Second to last Special Report on GOBA.
There are those robins again! Like clockwork with no snooze alarm! Another thing nice about being spread out in these campgrounds in Troy City Park is I did not hear a single snorer or the slamming of porta potty doors in the middle of the night. So the robins I don’t mind.
Riding my bike around town felt good. I do believe I am starting to recover and one more rest day should do it. I looked at some of the prices for breakfast at some other shops and for the money and quality, K’s Hamberger Shop had the best breakfast deal in town. I saw a guy next to me with a beautiful salad and got to have that with my scrambled eggs.
Ok Cue Frazier's Theme Song… I hear the blues a-calling, tossed salad, and scrambled eggs.
The latest in wait staff fashion. Bringing back the bow ties!
My number one rule in discovering a new town; never ever pass an open bookstore.
Do not let this small storefront deceive you. There is a second level to explore loaded with many surprises.
How about a large room with floor-to-ceiling bookshelves with nothing but zombie books!
As I was leaving the bookstore I ran into Ron the GOBA Photographer and his daughter Robin. They mentioned they were going on a tour of the courthouse. Well, that I didn’t want to miss.
I missed the name of the person giving the tour but I believe he is either a city or county elected official and developer. He has been working on restoring a number of buildings in downtown Troy. The courthouse has been restored and there is still much to do but what has been done is simply amazing.
The view from the judge’s chair.
One of his main projects is the conversion of this bank building built in 1929 and sold in 2018 into a microbrewery, wine, and bourbon bar. Scheduled to open in August this year.

Last time to say goodbye to GOBA photographer Ron and his daughter Robin at a restaurant where I was eating.
The Official GOBA Song Talent Contest did come off without a hitch. My tent was close enough to hear the contestants and one that sounded like Johny Cash won.
Last night to say good night to these glorious girls of GOBA, Joshlyn, and Suzi.
Tomorrow is an easy ride of 29.7 miles back to Sidney and saying goodbye to all the riders until next year. Where it will be will remain a mystery till the fall.
Henry--It's always enjoyable reading your write-ups. Enjoying my early morning coffee this morning reading about your bicycle GOBA adventures. It's almost "inspirational." In fact--it is! Keep up the great fun writing. We're still messing with our trawler.
